Printmaking is making art via a plate made of lino, wood, stone, metal, glass, plastic etc the artist carves, engraves or cuts the appropriate plate. A layer of ink or paint would then be applied to the surface of the plate and a piece of paper, fabric, timber, etc. is then brought together and pressed to create an image.
Print making is a time-consuming tedious process and the effects are rather distinct and wonderful. The pay off of making a printing plate is that numerous prints can be created from the one image, each print viewed as an original due to the varying effects from the printing process as well as the inks, paint or mediums chosen.
